Presentation on IT Strategic Planning
The presentation from GTA’s conference on strategic planning for information technology can be viewed online or downloaded (PDF format).
GTA hosted the conference on May 3 and May 5, 2010. It focused on the benefits of a single view of agency IT information for both the agency’s business and in supporting IT decisions. The conference was structured to give agency CIOs and planning coordinators a clearer understanding of how IT information from their strategic plans is used in state decision making.
The Office of Planning and Budget, which is responsible for statewide strategic planning, presented an overview of Georgia’s strategic planning process. GTA staff described how IT information is extracted from agency strategic plans and used by GTA.
Conference topics included:
- Strategic planning in Georgia – an agency business focus
- IT information in the strategic plan
- Extracting IT intelligence
- Sharing intelligence for better decisions
The State of Georgia IT Strategic Plan sets the overall direction for information technology for state government over the next few years. It focuses on six areas of IT:
-
Security
-
Customer service
-
Service delivery
-
IT governance
-
Enterprise collaboration
-
IT workforce
As technology continues to progress and the role of the state continues to evolve, this plan will be reviewed and adjusted to reflect those changes.
