FAQs: Motor Vehicle Reports

Motor Vehicle Reports (MVR) provides summaries of individual drivers’ histories. GTA and the Georgia Department of Driver Services offer these reports online to certified customers.

  • How do I get certified to obtain motor vehicle reports?

Please visit the Georgia Department of Driver Services website for information on getting certified.

  • I received my certificate, user ID, and password from the Georgia Department of Driver Services, and I've been instructed to contact GTA. What do I need to do?

If you are a new user, please register with GTA and pay a one-time, non-refundable fee of $100 to set up  your GTA billing account. You will be notified via e-mail when the account is activated.

  • I sent all of my paperwork to the Georgia Department of Driver Services. What is the status of my application for MVR certification?

Contact the Office of Data Innovations to inquire about the status of your application.

  • I need to renew my MVR certification. Do I have to send a check to GTA to set up another billing account?

Annual renewals are handled by the Georgia Department of Driver Services. The GTA billing account is created the first time you are certified, and you pay only once to set up the account.

  • We are a government or public-sector entity and are supposed to get MVRs for free. Will we be charged when we set up a billing account with GTA?

As a government or public-sector entity, you will not be charged for MVR. The billing account with GTA is required for administrative and tracking purposes only.

  • Why do I have to renew my MVR certification every year?

Georgia state law requires that you renew your certification every year using your current business license.
