The director of GTA’s GeorgiaGov Interactive team has been named to the prestigious list of 40 Under 40 for 2016 by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Nikhil Deshpande was among those honored at an awards dinner in Atlanta on November 3. The honorees were selected by the newspaper for their achievements in such fields as law, health care, and technology.
Under Mr. Deshpande’s leadership, the GeorgiaGov Interactive team manages the state portal, Georgia.gov, and the state’s enterprise web-publishing platform, which supports 78 state agency websites. He was in charge of a major redesign of the portal and an upgrade of the enterprise platform that focused on accommodating the rising use of mobile devices. The portal and the enterprise platform became the first in the nation to use responsive design, which automatically adapts a website’s display to fit any computing device. In September 2016, the team’s work to make state websites easily accessible to constituents with disabilities received a first place award from the National Association of State CIOs.
“I’m exceedingly proud of Nikhil and his team for these and many other accomplishments,” said Calvin Rhodes, state CIO and GTA executive director. “The team is making significant contributions to state government, and the recognition Nikhil received is well deserved.”
