Motor Vehicle Reports
Motor Vehicle Reports (MVR) provide you with summaries of individual drivers’ driving histories. GTA and the Department of Driver Services (DDS) offer these reports online to all certified customers.
Types of information
The three types of information that are available through MVR are described below.
Insurance companies and support organizations as well as rental car agencies that maintain their own insurance division can request reports for insurance purposes. The information provided includes name; date of birth; address; license number, type, and class; endorsements; expiration date; restrictions; status; citation and suspension descriptions and dates; and other applicable information.
Employers can also obtain this information for employment purposes. Each company must have written consent on file from the individual to request the MVR.
Information is available for credit purposes in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. This information includes name, date of birth, address, and license number and status.
Limited rating information
Limited rating information (LRI), which includes name, date of birth, and license number and status, can only be requested by certified insurance agents. It also contains a summary of the number of violations relating to driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicating substances, and the number and type of other moving traffic violations that the proposed insured driver committed.
