Registration Open for 2019 Georgia Digital Government Summit
Registration is now open for the 2019 Georgia Digital Government Summit, an annual event for both IT and business leaders from state and local governments. It will take place September 23 (all day) and 24 (ends at noon) at the Westin Buckhead, 3391 Peachtree Road, N.E., in Atlanta. The registration fee is $25 for public-sector employees.

This year’s speakers include Teri Takai, who has a long and distinguished career in the technology field and currently serves as executive director of the Center for Digital Government. Her presentation, “Future Ready! The Playbook for 2020 and Beyond,” will explore disruptive technologies, emerging regulatory issues, the citizen and employee experience, the future of management, and funding the future. Ms. Takai previously served as CIO of both Michigan and California and subsequently as the first woman CIO of the U.S. Department of Defense.
Cedric Alexander, PsyD, will address technology’s role in the transformation of public safety. Dr. Alexander is currently deputy chief operating officer for DeKalb County with responsibility for the daily operations of the county’s police and fire departments, medical examiner’s office, animal services, and 911 communications. He previously served as chief of police for DeKalb County and Rochester, N.Y.
Motivational speaker Kelly Swanson will offer her ideas for improving communications skills and more effectively conveying actions and accomplishments in government technology. Chad Pregracke will discuss what led him to establish Living Lands & Water, an internationally recognized non-profit organization whose mission is to protect, preserve, and restore our nation’s major rivers.
Breakout sessions will explore such topics as cybersecurity, smart communities and 5G, the future of work, navigating the cloud, and accessibility. The topics for general sessions include essential IT leadership skills and geospatial tools.
State and local government agencies will be recognized for their technology achievements with the annual Georgia Technology Innovation Showcase awards, and summit participants can visit exhibits of products and services from leading technology companies.
