Over the last 35 years, his research has significantly contributed to the understanding of digital transformation of organizations, platforms, and supply chains; governance of digital resources; and digital solutions for complex societal issues such as health disparities, infant mortality, digital and educational inequities, and economic reintegration of ex-offenders through gig employment.

His current work focuses on developing responsible AI solutions that maximize human and organizational potential while minimizing risks. Endeavors include understanding the dynamic impacts of AI on jobs and skills, AI fairness, AI augmentation of individuals and collectives, and large-language model tutors for equitable student success in computing education, among others. 

He is a recipient of the LEO Award for Lifetime Exceptional Achievement from the Association for Information Systems and has been recognized as an Influential Leader by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business for the impact of his research on business and society.
