GTA earns prestigious national procurement honor
The Georgia Technology Authority's Procurement Management Office recently earned national recognition for its outstanding work.
The team received the 2022 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute. This year marks the 11th time GTA has earned the annual award.
The prestigious honor recognizes organizational excellence in procurement based on standardized criteria measuring innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership. The application process is rigorous, requiring extensive documentation of practices and performance. Evaluation focuses not only on practical work, but also on contributions that further advance the public procurement profession.
GTA's procurement team establishes the organization's procurement policy and oversees the procurement process, which includes development of bid solicitation documents, contract awards, and contracts management. The group also administers the GTA P-card program, works with Team Georgia Marketplace, and plays a role in vendor management.
"It's the day-in, day-out commitment and attention to detail that sets our procurement team apart," said State CIO and GTA Executive Director Shawnzia Thomas. "We are gratified by national recognition their work has earned."
The team is led by Lisa Mehalko and includes Rachael Allen, Towanda Cuthbert, Cartrella Jackson-Langston, Carolyn Lester, and Nikki Tucker.
