Governance, Risk, and Compliance

The Office of Information Security (OIS) works collaboratively with the information security organizations at all levels of state government. They offer assistance and subject matter expertise to help build, manage and mature cyber security programs as well as provide support to identify and manage IT-related risk.

Using the NIST Risk Management Framework and the CIS 18 Critical Controls as our guide and leveraging our partnerships from the MS-ISAC, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and Georgia Department of Defense, team members act as advisors and consultants to assist agency executives, security officers, business owners and IT departments in developing comprehensive security strategies and methods to define, implement and continuously monitor the cyber security structures that support their missions in a constantly changing and challenging cyber landscape.

In addition, information security policies and standards issued by GTA play a critical role in reducing risk in the state's technology enterprise.
